چکیده

An analysis is given of the annual modulation signal for the direct detection of relic neutralinos within the framework of supergravity unified models. It is shown that both the minimal and the non-minimal SUGRA models can generate neutralinoproton cross-sections at the level compatible with the signals reported in the DAMA experiment at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory. Effects of proton stability on the analysis of the DAMA data in the minimal and the non-minimal SUGRA models are also discussed.

WIMP direct detection and halo structure

Weakly Interacting Massive Particle (WIMP) direct detection experiments are just reaching the sensitivity required to detect Galactic dark matter in the form of neutralinos (or indeed any stable weakly interacting particle). Detection strategies and data analyses are often based on the simplifying assumption of a standard spherical, isothermal halo model, but observations and numerical simulati...

In hierarchical structure formation models of disk galaxies, a dark matter disk forms as massive satellites are preferentially dragged into the disk-plane where they dissolve. Here, we quantify the importance of this dark disk for direct and indirect dark matter detection. The low velocity of the dark disk with respect to the Earth enhances detection rates in direct detection experiments at low...

On the Direct Detection of Extragalactic WIMPs

We consider the direct detection of WIMPs reaching the Earth from outside the Milky Way. If these WIMPs form a distinct population they will, although of much lower flux than typical galactic halo WIMPs, have a number of features which might aid in their ultimate detectability: a high and essentially unique velocity (∼ 600 km/s in the galactic rest frame) due to their acceleration in entering t...
